-Finding out I was pregnant in my car-
Firstly, I just want to start out by saying a huge thank you for not only coming over to Byron & Medina but for also taking the time to sit and read my blog. I wanted to make my site not only a store but more of a personal space, to share with you stories and also to hear yours - create a little community if you like.
I aim to post blogs about my personal life events all relating to George as often as I can. As you can imagine, having a now one-year-old, a full-time job and a business to run I will do my absolute best to post as often as I can. You will get to read all my tips, tricks, my ups and my downs and everything in between. So, grab a cuppa get comfy and I’ll start off by talking about how I found out George was 34 weeks away from being in my arms….
I found out I was pregnant in the car, yes that is right the car. Outside Tesco to be exact. I wee’d into a plastic cup that I pinched from the water fountain on my lunch break, I drove it in my cup holder to Tesco to buy a test. Being at work I did not want anyone to have any clue I was even thinking I was pregnant, let alone actually being pregnant. So, there I was, test in hand and a plastic cup of wee in the other and BOOM there they were two blue lines. Clear as day before the two-minute timer was up. That feeling is the biggest mix of emotions EVER! As George was not exactly planned the emotions were a concoction of “oh wow, ok, right, shit, I’m so excited, what now”….. that just replayed in my head for about 5 minutes on a loop. I was shaking, crying and still sat outside Tesco…. Any passers-by, dog walkers that saw me that day crying into a cup of wee, I apologise.
I had always watched and been fascinated by these wonderful reveals of pregnant women telling their partners they were pregnant in these lovely and sometimes cryptic ways and then videoing their reaction, I always imagined one day when/if I fell pregnant I would do that….. False, in fact I just facetimed my partner. I said “so, I’ve done a test, and this is it” tears in my eyes holding up the test to the phone. He responded with “what does the two lines mean?” It really took that magical moment out of it having to try and focus the back of the pregnancy test box on facetime because I was to scared to say “I’m pregnant” out loud. He just began shaking and repeating “Oh my god I’m going to be a dad”.
I got home that night and we were just so excited and so shocked. I kept that realist mentality that anything can happen during any time of pregnancy. I was excited but I still couldn’t say “I’m going to be a mummy….”
So, there it is. How I found out I was pregnant, scared, excited and so ready to embark on THE best journey I had been waiting for my whole life.
I’d love to hear how you found out you were pregnant, leave a comment below!
Lots of Love and Hugs Kelly Medina & George Byron. X
